For parents recovering from childbirth — whether 6 weeks or several decades ago
The fourth trimester doesn't end at twelve weeks. For many parents, the physical and emotional work of postpartum recovery goes on much longer — quietly, without much acknowledgment from the world around them. Postnatal yoga at Breathing Space is designed for that longer arc.
Many students come straight from our prenatal class. Some arrive months or years later, still carrying the physical patterns of pregnancy and birth in their bodies. All of them are welcome here.
Class focuses on what postnatal bodies actually need: core restoration, pelvic floor awareness, stability, and the kind of breathwork that helps regulate a nervous system running on not enough sleep. Strength and fitness build gradually, without pressure or performance. The pace is intentional.
This is also, practically speaking, one of the few structured things that fits inside a maternity leave. Postnatal yoga runs in six-week series — shorter than our other semesters — because we know that maternity leave doesn't last forever and consistency matters more than length. Daytime weekday classes welcome babies; evening and weekend classes are for parents only, unless noted.
You'll be in a room full of people who are in it with you — same exhaustion, same questions, same complicated mix of love and overwhelm. That's not incidental. It's part of what makes the class work.
