Join Janvi Raichura, a pelvic floor physical therapist and the founder of Bloom Wellness on Capitol Hill, for a movement-based workshop for pregnancy and postpartum.
Your pelvic floor is a group of muscles at the base of your pelvis. These muscles support your pelvic organs and help with bladder and bowel control. They also work with your diaphragm and abdominal muscles every time you breathe and move. During pregnancy, your posture shifts and these muscles have to adapt. After birth, your body keeps recovering and adapting, however you delivered.
Kegels are only one part of the picture. In this workshop, you’ll learn how your breath, core, hips, and pelvic floor work together as a system. Then you’ll practice simple movements and breathing adjustments you can use on the mat and in daily life, such as when you lift your baby.
Janvi will talk about common changes during pregnancy and postpartum:
The workshop ends with time for your questions. Come ready to move, and leave with practical tools you can use at home.
Who it’s for: Pregnant and postpartum parents at any stage, whether your baby is due next month or was born years ago.
What to wear: Comfortable clothes you can move in
This workshop is educational and does not replace individual medical care. If you have questions about your own recovery, talk with your provider.
